Delhi
Agricultural Marketing Board was
established in 1977 under the provisions of Delhi Agricultural Produce
Marketing (Regulation) Act 1976 which has since been replaced by
Delhi Agricultural Produce Marketing (regulation) Act, 1998. The
said Act was enacted for the better regulation of the purchase,
sale, storage and processing of agricultural produce and for the
establishment of markets of agricultural produce in the National
Capital Territory of Delhi and for markets connected therewith or
incidental thereto. Under this Act organizational set up has been
given to regulate the trading activity of the agricultural produce
in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Delhi Agricultural Marketing
Boardis an apex body of this organizational set up and its main
functions are:-
To
exercise Superintendence and control over the marketing committees
- To provide for general improvement
in the markets for their respective areas
- To provide facilities for grading
and standardization of agricultural produce and
To
provide for better marketing of agricultural produce
The
Secretariat of Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board is located in
its own building situated at 9, Institutional Area, Pankha Road,
Janakpuri, New Delhi. The Board performs its functions through various
marketing committees. At present there are 7 marketing committees
functioning in various parts of NCT of Delhi.
